    • For Online Booking: Morning Reservations need to be made at least 48 hours in advance. For Online Booking, click the red button below.
    • TEXT Us at 406-219-7466 for Same-Day or Next Day Reservations.
    • All reservations are for a minimum of 2 hours. All morning reservations start at 9:30AM, typically this is the best time to be on the water as it is usually more calm in the morning. Afternoons tend to be windier causing choppy waters.
    • Late in the summer, usually after Labor Day, we offer Afternoon Reservations at 12:30pm, 2:30pm and 4pm. Afternoon rentals BEFORE Labor Day are first come first serve, in person rentals only.
    • Walk-in's welcome and usually there is very little to no wait in the afternoons. See the FAQ for more info.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Our shop is located a few hundred yards from the edge of Lake McDonald. All boat rentals will include life jackets and a set of wheels to transport your boat from our shop directly to the lake. No need to put your boat on your vehicle!

If you want to transport the boat elsewhere, you will be responsible for transportation and for bringing the boat through all necessary watercraft inspection points, including the checkpoint at the west entrance prior to returning the boat. We can provide tie-downs and pool noodles for you to attach the boat to your vehicle.

Our boats are to be used on flat water only (i.e. lakes) This includes our Alpacka pack rafts

Tipping is greatly appreciated! Our crew works so hard to make sure your gear is in its best condition before you arrive and we work extra hard to make sure you feel confident about our gear and the park before we send you out on your adventure. While we may not be guiding you all day, we do believe that the service we provide is just as quality and worthy of tipping. We accept credit card and cash tips. No cash? Ask your GO Team Member to add on a credit card tip when you return your gear. Thank you in advance!

Most customers seem to find that two hours is enough. If you are out on the lake having a blast and want to go longer, you are more than welcome to extend your rental - you will be charged retroactively for any additional time.

There are a few options in this case. Option 1: Do our Afternoon Tandem Kayak Rental at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm or 6pm. (We do not take afternoon reservations for single kayaks.) Option 2: Walk-in rental. We generally have a number of walk-in availability between 11:30 AM and 5:30 PM. All walk-ins are first come, first serve. If you are hoping for a walk-in during peak season, you may need to wait for a short period of time, but we have 40+ kayaks and they are coming and going all afternoon, so waits aren't usually long. Option 3: Book a full-day rental. Boats are held for the duration of your rental, so if you book for a full day, we will hold the boat until you arrive to pick it up. Boats need to be returned no later than close of business, regardless of pick-up time.

In past years, we have made exceptions to allow for sunset and sunrise boating. However, due to low staffing numbers and increased traffic, we are no longer able to accommodate these orders. The only way to catch a sunrise/sunset is to book a two day rental. All rentals are due back a half hour before we close.

Approximately Two and a half hours prior to closing, we will stop sending out walk-in boats. During peak season, this may happen earlier depending on traffic. We understand the frustration that this causes, but once we stop renting boats out for the day, exceptions will not be made for later arrivals, so please plan to arrive early!

We do not cancel for rain or cold weather. We will cancel and reschedule or refund orders if it is unsafe to be on the water. This happens primarily when there is high wind or lightning. We have also closed for poor air quality during fire season. If you are worried about boating in wet weather, we encourage you to check the weather forecast and cancel or reschedule at least 72 hours in advance of your reservation start time. Please see our cancellation policy for more information.

No worries! Your boat will be held for the duration of your rental period. Additional time can be added to your rental if you wish to extend your rental time. See pricing for additional hourly rates.

Reservations are not canceled for fog, rain, or a chilly day. We will cancel if the conditions are unsuitable for paddling or biking (lightning, strong winds or extreme weather). Cancellations made at least 3 days prior to the trip will receive a full refund. Canceling with a 24 hours notice or more will be able to transfer payment to a future trip or program. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will receive no refund. No-shows will also forfeit the entire reservation fee. If we cancel due to an emergency, extreme weather, or if the rental item is down for repairs you may reschedule or receive a full refund. If Glacier Outfitters has to cancel the reservation, we will make every attempt to contact you in a timely fashion.
