No. Please note that bear spray reservations DO NOT serve as a Going to the Sun Road Vehicle Reservation Ticket. Reserving bear spray in advance will not grant you access into Glacier National Park.
Yes. We highly suggest that visitors carry bear spray in the park as Glacier is home to the largest numbers of both grizzly and black bear in the lower 48. Sightings happen every day in the park and bear spray has been shown to be the most effective deterrent in addition to being an inexpensive way to prevent bear attacks.
We purchase new canisters of bear spray every year and keep strict records of the weight of each can. If the canister is not completely full or in good condition, it is taken out of our fleet.
Give yourself about 10 minutes to rent bear spray with us. We have a short video you'll need to watch prior to being given your bear spray.
Yes! We have a return box location in St Mary, just as you exit the park. Look for our bear spray return box on the side of the St Mary Lodge, by the entrance to the coffee shop and restaurant. As you drive out of Glacier into St Mary Village the box is immediately to your right, next to the lodge.
You can access the drop box in West Glacier (Huckleberry Hut, 130 Going-to-the-Sun Rd, West Glacier, MT 59936) outside of the park AND New in 2025 we will have a drop box located in St Mary, stay tuned for that address!!
Reservations are not canceled for fog, rain, or a chilly day. We will cancel if the conditions are unsuitable for paddling or biking (lightning, strong winds or extreme weather). Cancellations made at least 3 days prior to the trip will receive a full refund. Canceling with 24 hours notice or more will be able to transfer payment to a future trip or program. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will receive no refund. No-shows will also forfeit the entire reservation fee. If we cancel due to an emergency, extreme weather, or if the rental item is down for repairs you may reschedule or receive a full refund. If Glacier Outfitters has to cancel the reservation, we will make every attempt to contact you in a timely fashion.
